PROPOSED VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
The Long-Range Planning Task Force is proposing 20 elected positions: six at the Council level and 14 District Directors.
Fraternity Council, as a visionary and strategic board, would be served by a President, Treasurer and four Vice Presidents.
The National Panhellenic Conference Delegate and Executive Director would sit on Council by invitation, as they currently do.
Opportunities would exist for a Member-At-Large position and perhaps even a team of undergraduates to consult with, both serving one-year terms.
District Directors would oversee the 14 districts and guide their team of specialists, providing both alumna and chapter support.
Fraternity Council members and District Directors would be elected for two-year terms with term limits.
Outside of the 20 elected positions, all others would be appointed by Fraternity Council. Breaking it down, that includes: 11 Content Directors, 140 District Specialists, 16 Chairmen and three Fraternity Assistants.
With a wheel of specialists for each region, each position becomes more manageable for a volunteer. Having a Province Director knowledgeable in all areas of alumna or chapter management is a lot to ask of today’s volunteer. But many of us would love to focus on a specialty that we can fit into our lives, such as membership or philanthropy. This approach does just that.
Content Specialists could also be appointed to another specialist position after a term or two, thus creating more opportunities to volunteer for Kappa in different capacities. A specialist could be appointed as the Content Director or as a Standing or Special Committee Chairman or be elected as a District Director or as a Fraternity Council member.
This would create an organizational structure that is flat, not vertical like a ladder. Any position offers our volunteers the opportunity to move in any direction, depending on their skill set and availability to serve.
Content Directors would maintain expertise and oversee a team of specialists, that includes both chapter and alumna integration, related to one of the 11 focus areas for the Fraternity.
Content Specialists serve as a member of their team's focused area, while maintaining expert knowledge, and would report to both her corresponding District Director and Content Director.
Content Directors and District Specialists would be appointed for two-year terms without term limits.
Standing and Special Committees would be similar to our current structure, working in conjunction with Fraternity Council, District Directors, Content Directors and Content Specialists.
